It aims, through an innovative framework, to integrate the University into economic development and to harmonize the higher education system with the rest of the world.<\/p><p><span style=\"color: #ffb432;\"><strong>Study Framework under the LMD System<\/strong><\/span><\/p><center><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-14038\" src=\"http:\/\/sciences.univ-alger.dz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/ChatGPT-Image-2-sept.-2025-10_26_59.png\" width=\"608\" height=\"405\" \/><\/center><p>The structure of training in the LMD system is based on 3 degrees: <strong>BACHELOR \u2013 MASTER \u2013 DOCTORATE<\/strong><\/p><p>Training programs are organized into <strong>semesters<\/strong> and <strong>teaching units (UE)<\/strong> that are transferable and capitalizable<\/p><p>Implementation of the <strong>credit system<\/strong><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #ffb432;\"><strong>The Semester<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\u25ba The semester is the periodic duration of training units: <strong>the basic unit of training is no longer the academic year but the semester.<\/strong><br \/>\u25ba The three study cycles are expressed in semesters:<\/p><p><strong>Bachelor: 6 semesters<\/strong><\/p><p><strong>Master: 4 semesters<\/strong><\/p><p><strong>Doctorate: 6 semesters<\/strong><br \/>\u25ba A semester has a defined number of weeks: <strong>1 semester = 15 weeks (teaching + evaluation)<\/strong><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #ffb432;\"><strong>Semester and Credits<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\u25ba A semester corresponds to a set workload measured in credits.<br \/>\u25ba All the UE (teaching units) of a semester total 30 credits.<br \/>\u25ba Therefore:<\/p><p><strong>1st cycle = Bachelor = 180 credits<\/strong><\/p><p><strong>2nd cycle = Master = 120 credits<\/strong><\/p><p><strong>3rd cycle = Doctorate preparation<\/strong><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #ffb432;\"><strong>The Teaching Unit (UE)<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\u25ba The basic unit of a study program = an autonomous and coherent subdivision within a curriculum.<br \/>\u25ba Teaching methods:<\/p><p>Lectures, tutorials, practicals, fieldwork, research, etc.<\/p><p>Or a combination of these forms.<br \/>\u25ba Its value is defined in credits.<br \/>\u25ba It is coded and numbered.<br \/>\u25ba Validation and promotion:<\/p><p>Obtain the required average for the UE<\/p><p>Accumulate all required UEs to obtain a degree or diploma<\/p><p><span style=\"color: #ffb432;\"><strong>The Credit<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\u25ba A unit that determines the value of a UE and the total workload (CTT) required to achieve its objectives.<br \/>\u25ba <strong>1 credit = 20 hours<\/strong> of CTT for the student: lectures, tutorials, practicals, research, internships, and personal work.<br \/>\u25ba A semester has 30 credits:<\/p><p>Equivalent to 600 hours of student workload<\/p><p>Maximum of 360 hours of classroom teaching per semester (exceptionally 420H)<\/p><p>Classroom teaching = max 30 hours per week (exceptionally 35H)<\/p><p><span style=\"color: #ffb432;\"><strong>What is a Study Pathway?<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\u25ba It is the route chosen by the student to achieve their educational goals.<br \/>\u25ba The mix of compulsory, optional, and elective UEs allows them to design a personal path.<\/p><p><span style=\"color: #ffb432;\"><strong>Distribution of UEs during the study program<\/strong><\/span><\/p><p><strong>Level 1: Purpose = Foundations (UEF):<\/strong> essential basic knowledge<\/p><p><strong>Level 2: Purpose = Deepening (UEM):<\/strong> essential knowledge for the pathway<\/p><p><strong>Level 3: Purpose = Specialization (UED):<\/strong> courses leading to diploma majors<\/p><p><strong>Level 4: Purpose = Complementary (UET):<\/strong> additional to the major or minors<\/p><p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/sciences.univ-alger.dz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/Guide_LMD-1.pdf\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/sciences.univ-alger.dz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/pngwing.com-2-300x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"59\" height=\"59\" \/><\/a><\/p><p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/sciences.univ-alger.dz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/Guide_LMD-1.pdf\"><span style=\"color: #ff1703;\"><strong>Download the LMD Guide<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>LMD System What is the LMD system?
